My Experience w/ Prenuvo

Last month, I had a full body scan with Prenuvo & I wanted to share my experience with you! I went for a full body scan because for over a year now, I’ve been experiencing unexplained chronic bloating. My symptoms are still here (and worse) even after all the gut & detox protocols I’ve been on, so I decided this couldn’t hurt.

Read on for my experience and answers to some of your most-asked questions about Prenuvo.

My Experience

Overall, I had a positive experience with Prenuvo. I got the scan to help rule out/in anything that would explain the cause of my symptoms. The scan detected informational findings and minor findings to follow up on.

The informational findings for me were 1) breast tissue density (good to know for mammograms), 2) the shape of my uterus, and 3) scoliosis. The minor finding that I am still following up on is inflammation in my colon. The Prenuvo scan helped me to advocate for myself at the gastroenterologist, and I ended up being booked for a colonoscopy shortly after my scan to look into the colon inflammation. I’m still in the process of figuring out what is driving the inflammation in my body and my next step is a laparoscopy to see if I have endometriosis (more on that in another post!). Fingers crossed I get answers soon but I’m glad Prenuvo ruled out major issues.

Based on my findings, they recommend I go back in 2 years to see how things have changed. I’m hoping with the work I’m putting in now, I will see a reduction in inflammation :)

What is Prenuvo?

Prenuvo is a company with clinics and new MRI technology with a goal of helping patients to be more proactive about their health. Using optimized hardware & software and AI, the scan picks up millions of data points throughout your body.

How is it different than a “regular” MRI?

One major benefit is you don’t need contrast (a toxic metal) injected into your body. Also, the technology of Prenuvo MRIs is more advanced than “regular” MRIs. Prenuvo scans are able to detect over a hundred conditions, including early stage tumors.

How long is the scan?

I opted for the full body scan, which is the longest of the scans. My scan was less than an hour. You have the option to listen to music or watch Netflix during your scan, which makes it feel more bearable. I was a little claustrophobic when I first went in but the technician was helpful in letting me know how much time I had left. The technician’s timing updates and encouragement helped me push through the feelings of claustrophobia. You do have the option to receive a sedative before the scan if you need it!

Do they explain your results?

Yes. You can view your results online or in the Prenuvo app. The results are very thorough and each system (endocrine, nervous, reproductive, etc.) will be a certain color based on the findings. You also get a free consultation with a nurse practitioner after you’ve received your results. My consultation was not very helpful but I know others who had a better experience with this.

Can you send your results to your doctor?

Yes and it’s super easy! There is a physician’s report that you can download and send to your doctor(s). I LOVE that the results are delivered directly to the patient. No need to call/fax/email your doctor for your test results.

Do you need a doctor referral?

You do not need a doctor referral to book a scan. This is one of the major positives as you do not have to convince a doctor that you’re feeling off or that you want to simply be preventative.

Is it worth the money?

In my opinion, YES! Especially if you have unexplained symptoms or you have a family history of certain diseases, this is a great way to get your baseline and keep track/catch things early. Note - the one thing that Prenuvo does not scan for are cardiovascular issues. If your family has a history of cardiovascular disease, you can check out Cleerly Health.

To reduce the financial burden, you are able to use FSA/HSA funds. If you’re interested in booking a scan, contact me here. I have discount codes :)
